Isolation and Characterization Heavy Metal Reduction Bacteria Hg and Cd on Gold Exminning Monterado, Bengkayang

Abstract

Heavy metal contamination on ground and water is very dangerous for environment and human health. Goal of this experiment is to isolate bioremediaton potencial bacteria. Isolate was collected on gold exminning Monterado, Bengkayang, West Kalimantan. The isolation effort 9 isolate, include 5 isolate that growth on SIM media contain Hg; 1 isolate growth on SIM media contain Cd; 3 isolate growth on SIM media contain Hg and Cd. On of the isolate that growth on SIM media contain Hg and Cd, Sd200c have Maximum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) at 7 µg/mL on Hg and 250 µg/mL on Cd. In 6 days, this isolate as the metal resistance bacteria can decrease Hg until 25,4% and Cd until 48,86%. Otherwise, as the metal reduction bacteria can decrease Hg until 59,21% and Cd until 64,71%.
